on the way to the UK to spread my mum’s ashes and travel around a bit. There has been a bit of intentional withholding of information and delays of the long promised move.
As always, it is not entirely my fault, accept the responsibility, not the blame. One of the things I’ve been waiting for is the new version of wordpress, which integrates Wordpress with Wordpress MU. The reason for the delay at the wordpress end – a kitten. Need I say more?
I also delayed the change-over due to the simple fact that I have no idea how to coordinate my email with my current host and the new one. I could keep them both hosts, but the reality is I don’t need both, and I have no interest in restarting the mess that the old multiple install Wordpress ultimately created for myself.
I have been able to enlist some potential help in getting the kitties up and running. A lot has changed in the last two years where video is concerned. One of my videos is about to hit the eleven thousand hit mark which is kinda cool. The majority have less than a hundred. Took me a bit of time to figure out why, but it is fairly obvious once you think about it.
In other news, looks like I’m doing a full 2hour weapons seminar sometime in august. The mind boggles.
There is some news on the writing front, but I am going to wait and work a bit before any announcements are made.

Just got a meetup notification saying Wordpress’s 7th birthday is next week. Kind of amazing how this thing has grown and changed over such a short time. I was at a Google adsense meetup this week and I was surprised at how many of the newbees had no idea what wordpress is or does.
I threw in with the beginners having banished adsense previously and am more or less starting from scratch yet again. Kinda sorta, it’s been just about two years since I started moving the site and my mum had her stroke and here we are.
So I’m back to learning a bunch of stuff all over again that I already knew. My problem with AdSense began and ended with my MovieMeme Site, devoted to advancing evolutionary theory into the movie theater. Sounds innocent enough. You would think the ads that would show up would be of interest to the pro-science, evolution, rational thinking crowd. Like myself, you would be wrong, what you get is overwhelmed with Religious propaganda and bullshit.
The problem with pointing this out as a blogger, is it puts you in violation of your terms of service. Nice. So I complained and complained to google, got nowhere and finally pulled the plug. This happened shortly before the stroke.
Move forward and they claim to have improved a bit, so I will give it another go.
And the winner is…..Dreamhost. As you may or may not know, I am on two hosts at the moment, which was a good idea at the time, and I have no complaints about Lunar Pages, the host which I am on now.
The advantage of Dreamhost is it has a better video-delivery back-end and getting everything under one roof seems like a much better plan. I also like the idea of developing a video and photo site for my martial arts stuff, along with the kitty stuff in one neat and easy to manage location.
My main interest is in content building, not site building. Easy is my friend.

One of the things that has been on the mind of late is the coming together of my various interests under one roof, namely here. I’ve been encouraging people to look up various other people I have trained under over the years and have also made it somewhat difficult for people to find me.
Lately, I’ve been writing a martial arts news letter for my fledgling JKD group, which more and more folks are actually reading. The problem with that is from my perspective, I on occasion tend to rub elbows with the Warriors for Christ crowd and given some of my other writing, it is easy to see from my end at least, how what I really think may not be all that welcome when rubbing elbows, so to speak.
I also noticed that writing on this site on a daily basis had a rather dramatic uptake in the people showing up, far more hits than humans known to me. This is basically a good thing given it is the intention of my writers intent to have folks read my words of wit and wisdom.
It is one of the things I do think about, quite a bit, probably too much to the point of inactivity. Generally, I’m finding myself becoming a bit too cautious and much to self-censuring, never a good thing.
I know I’m not the only one dealing with this, and I am suddenly reminded of the importance of being Ernest, where much of the plot surround a public and private face which do not always match up.
My dance teacher was curious about the sort of thing that I do and took a gentle run at me. “You’re dangerous,” she concluded.
I have a certain comfort level in environments where everyone has the known ability to kill everyone else in the room and I realize not everyone else has that experience or comfort level.
Anyway, I’ve been shoe shopping lately and I am discovering that finding a new martial arts/dance shoe is easier said than done.
I’ve also been busy editing a short movie, which radically cut back on my ability to do my own creative stuff. So it goes.
I have made the decision to move the site over to Dreamhost, since they have a better delivery system for video than this one.
Weirdly, it’s been two years since I started the Kitty video project, which is where the videos are going to end up. Not much work on that one lately, obviously.

Well,
I was supposed to teach today, but turns out a storm rolling through SF has other ideas. Remind myself why, I didn’t think teaching in the park was such a great idea in the first place.
In other news, it does look like I am back in the stick business, and returning to the Sonny fold, which is a good thing. I’m even getting along with someone in the main JKD community, which I’m happy about.
Other than that, it doesn’t look like I am going to have to deal with the back east madness, so I will be home for the foreseeable future, or until my next trip, whichever comes first.

Off to the sister in sin’s place for a week or maybe more. Hopefully, I’ll be able to sit down and get some editing done over the next week. Now I’m three projects behind.
Yesterday, I shot a meetup seminar for Cornelius Barnes which turned out to be a fun event. More tape, more footage, and away we go.
Why in the Hell should this movie win the first ever indieroar comedy competition?
Obviously, I am biased, but I do think the case can be made for making Mr. Hell the first ever winner in the comedy division. Looking around, I can see I am uniquely qualified to make the argument for this movie is funnier and better made than my honorable competition.

As I wrote earlier, on what would have been my mum’s 76th birthday, I was poking around on Meetup, which led me to this film festval. It also led me to the Movie Makers Unite meetup where Mr. Hell Goes to Frogtown received its first public performance.
The group’s leader posted to the Meetup today, that they should show up and support me. This is after actually seeing the thing. I am humbled by the generousity of spirit that would do this.
For those who were there, well, the web mix doesn’t quite work on the big screen, I do concede. And the subject matter is what it is. One of the other film makers watched Mr. Hell on the web and liked it. I’ve also gotten some posititive feedback from women about the piece, so someone’s watching and liking it enough to write me. (It would be nice if they wrote something on the site itself, but whatever. I’m working at staying positive about the blogging and software side of this contest.
One question which made me almost laugh and cry was a comment, “too bad you didn’t green screen it.” Truth be told, I shot this before the switch from Blue Screen to Green, Digi-beta may have been around, but this pre-dates digital video by several years. Final Cut was still a dream on someone’s PC. Kennedy is timeless, always topical and in the news, it confuses folks
Anyway, I had a great time at the film festival and look forward to making movies with these people.
