Every now and then, someone comes along that somehow seems to justify my life. Such is the case of the delightful Boston Police officer currently suing the city of his employ, for firing his racist ass. From my point of view life doesn’t get much better than this. As someone who has written the words, “ape buddies” and cheerfully turned them over to the ears of an unsuspecting audience, it is always interesting to see and hear the audience reaction.
My version of Job’s reaction to this statement is to suggest that some might say, this is racist. Given that Hell has stated that all African American men are rapist homosexuals, and this is why they choose to go to prison, my question to Job has always been, “What part of racist, don’t you understand?”
Then along comes my beloved police officer, who tells the world, it is the behavior of the banana eating jungle monkey he was commenting on, not that he was remotely suggesting that the Harvard professor Gates was as a person a banana eating jungle monkey, which obviously would be a racist statement.
I am reminded of the “Richard Nixon Comedy Hour,” which satirized yet another horrific and corrupt Republican administration. In the performance David Frye, performing as Nixon says, “I accept the responsibility, but not the blame. Allow me to explain the difference, people who accept the blame go to prison…people who accept the responsibility, don’t.”
The distinction this police officer is making, and given he sent this email to one suspects fellow minded like officers, why name names, is basically the same as that fondly remembered satirical Nixon from my youth. I have no doubt that the officer is sincere and is truly offended that he is losing his job thanks to his perceived as racist writings.
One of the things I marvel at, as an immigrant fly on the wall, and proud American by choice, is I can pass as, but never quite truly be a white American. Some things I’m never going to get. Number one on the list is the never ending discussion of race.
Americans and I will cheerfully extend this to humanity in all its shades and variations generally, but Americans in particular, have exactly the same definition of racist, “someone who isn’t me.” Fair enough.
My question to all who use this definition of racist is, “how many human races are there and how do you know?” By the definition of a racist, as someone who isn’t me, then I think we can all agree, that no one by definition is a racist. We are after all someone on an individual basis. Of course, by this definition, we are racists to everyone else on the planet.
This is no doubt the source of confusion where our “Banana eating jungle monkey,” spouting police officer is concerned. He didn’t even use that most delightful of euphemisms, “the N-word” to get his point across. So how could he possibly be a racist?
The question remains, “how many human races are there and how do you know?” This question is asking for a definition of race based on sumtin.
I am a human being, the same as you – this is my basic answer to these kinds of questions based on understanding of human evolution. Within the evolutionist community, the “candelabra” theory of human races ultimately came up empty. Technically, it is possible to divide human beings into three primary breeding populations. This distinction falls apart once someone is old enough to walk, however, as there are no hard and fast lines between one “race” and another when considering the human evolutionary timescale. The distinction between a chimpanzee and a bobono is greater than anything that exists in our three primary breeding populations – meaning at the end of the day, we are once species, one race. Talk about ethnic distinctions all you want, but on the subject of race, you are moving into the territory of the other.
A racist, by this definition, is someone who denies the common humanity of all people. This is why I made my Job, a Christian. Given that belief system and this is true of all Abrahamic religions, God created the humans and the others, Job is a human being; blacks, god made them as something other than human. And so it goes.
Anyway, fire the fucker.
