Mum is doing about the same.  There are some signs of improvement and it does look like she is having some recovery from the stroke.  Since I’ve been back she seems to recognize me all the time.  So I’m not her brother or her husband or someone claiming to be me anymore.  This is a very good step in I find it is easier when she recognizes me as it makes her more mom like.

She is also becoming more aware of her environment and likes to hang out with the nurses and drug Tech and go with them when they deliver the meds to the various patients/residents who live there.  And she came to the rescue of someone who fell down the other day, by sending one of the healthy residents, who lives in the unit because of her husband, to get the staff.

she seems in good spirits and is beginning to understand what has happened to her memory because of the stroke.  It is hard to tell how much she understands, but she has learned her room number, which you could not do before.

It does seem that putting her in a situation where she has a roommate has helped her and she is more social now than when she was in the room by herself.  So all in all, things are moving in a more positive direction than a negative one.
