Hey kids,
the adventures in rebuilding with Builder is officially underway. So far, no major frustrations to report, I spent most of the day so far looking for new and improved plugins, widgets, and layout functionality, which in itself, isn’t entirely under the control of Builder, but it is what it is and all the pieces have to fit in some coherent form at the end of the day.
The strength of Builder, so far is its ability to put different pages together for different functions, which for me is a big deal and always something of a deal breaker in WordPress. Basically, my day to day stuff, which you are reading here, can more or less function in any context, it’s words AKA, text. However, my poetry, that has a specific layout that I’m not so crazy about screwing with. Video is another, photography, yet another subject. You could kinda sorta do it in wordpress, but not so easy.
It’s work, time to roll up the sleeves. My current goal is to spend a couple of hours a day putting the basics together, there are some screwy things, that I haven’t quite figured out yet, but the goal is to get the new theme and basic up and running going this week. I do reserve the right to turn it on my live site, like now for instance and see what is going on. This is a bad habit, I know, and I usually have a sandbox and a home install running and then and only then do I put the thing up. But I decided to hell with that for a variety of reasons, which I will no doubt live to regret, but that is how I am doing it. Suffice to say, you may see some weird shit in the next couple of days, depending on when you log in. You are duly warned.
The downside of this is, my friends will no doubt go back to not talking to me. There is nothing like getting those calls wondering what the hell is going on because I haven’t posted in a while, to the resignation, that if you want to know what is going on, you will have to just get over yourself and use a god dammed telephone, email, or sumptin’.
Anyway, the goal is for you to never have to talk to me again and yet still know the innermost intimate details of my life. Yes maybe I will drag the mic in so you can have a listen when I take or leave a dump. Ain’t technology grand?
I actually was building something of an atheist following with twitter for a while, which obviously can get you into trouble with the Martial Arts, Warrior for Christ crowd, which I am known to rub elbows with, so I plan on going back to that and be what it may.
I will deal with that as it comes. There is a whole bunch of blogging technology help in this part of the world, as you know doubt know, which at this instant, I feel too much the poser to take advantage of. But that too shall pass.
